Discount Grocer to Open in Triangle Region of N.C.

The Lowes Food grocery store in Oxford has closed down and will be converting into the Triangle (North Carolina) region’s first JustSave discount grocery location when the store reopens on Oct. 28, according to comments made to the Triangle Business Journal by representatives of both companies.

The JustSave concept—referred to as Lowes’ “frugal cousin”—is a sister company to Winston-Salem based Lowes Foods. Each chain operates under the Alex Lee Inc.    company of Hickory, but the grocery chains are operated separately with different product offerings, different services and different reward systems. JustSave will still be offering Lowes’ store brand products under the Lowes Foods, Better Valu and Top Care brand names.

JustSave opened its first location in Pilot Mountain in February, and the Oxford location will be the company’s sixth location in central North Carolina.

The JustSave location in Oxford has also partnered with WilcoHess to offer fuel rewards with participating customers earning 5 cents off per gallon of gasoline for every $100 they spend in the grocery store.

The 27,200-s.f. store is located at 116 Granville Corners in Oxford.
