Wheaties Unveils Retro Boxes Featuring Olympic Greats
In a move sure to bring back memories of U.S. glory in the Summer Olympics, General Mills Inc. is reprinting Wheaties boxes that feature three of America’s greatest athletes, reports the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal.
The retro boxes feature Mary Lou Retton, Bruce Jenner and Muhammad Ali.
Ali won a gold medal in boxing in the 1960 Summer Olympics, Jenner won the gold in the decathlon in the 1976 Games, and Retton won the all-around gold in women’s gymnastics in 1984.
The “new” boxes will reach grocery shelves across the nation later this month, General Mills said in a news release.
Wheaties, which is produced by Golden Valley, Minn.-based General Mills, has been featuring athletes on its boxes for the last 85 years.
