San Diego-based Bumble Bee Foods has unveiled an upgrade to this year’s BeeWell for Life®, the leading North American seafood brand’s signature interactive health and wellness program. BeeWell for Life(TM) is designed to help consumers lead a more healthful lifestyle using the dedicated resource website www.BeeWellForLife.com.

The program offers consumers the chance to earn points by logging the miles they walk, run or bike, completing weekly challenges and entering the calories they consume. These points then translate to money earned for their choice of one, two or all three charity partners. BeeWell for Life partners in 2012 are the American Diabetes Association®, WomenHeart: The National Coalition for Women with Heart Disease, and Y-ME National Breast Cancer Organization(TM).

“Bumble Bee is thrilled to be partnering with the American Diabetes Association, WomenHeart, and Y-ME as a part of this year’s BeeWell for Life program,” said Bumble Bee SVP of Consumer Marketing and Corporate Social Responsibility Dave Melbourne. “Encouraging a healthy lifestyle is a vital component of Bumble Bee’s mission and brand philosophy. We hope to help educate and inspire positive change in our consumers’ lives with this new program, while also giving back to three very meaningful causes.”

Coinciding with the unveiling of the 2012 program is the introduction of a new BeeWell for Life website with enhanced tools, information and resources to help consumers incorporate healthy eating and exercise into their every day lives. These include tips from BeeWell for Life registered dietitians Stephanie Clarke and Willow Jarosh and fitness expert Jennifer Edwards. The website also will house monthly documentary-style webisodes featuring top ranked United States men’s tennis player Mardy Fish, with special appearances that include celebrity chef personality Scott Leibfried.

“The Mardy Fish video series reinforces the goals of BeeWell for Life with inspirational stories, recipes, tips and motivational messages to help consumers lead a healthier life,” Melbourne added.

Bumble Bee Foods is North America’s largest branded shelf-stable seafood company, offering a full line of canned and pouched tuna, salmon, sardine, and specialty protein products marketed in the U.S. under brands including Bumble Bee®, Brunswick®, Snow’s® and Beach Cliff®.
