The Kroger Co. announced today, March 19, the promotion of Tim Brown as president of the company’s Delta division. Kroger’s Delta division is based in Memphis, Tenn., and operates stores in Western Tennessee, Kentucky, Mississippi, Arkansas and Missouri.
Brown, 52, has been VP of operations in the company’s division, based in Roanoke, Va., since 2011; before that he served as the Mid-Atlantic division’s VP of merchandising since 2009.
“Tim brings extensive industry experience, passion for our customers and associates, and a track record of strong business results to this position,” said Rodney McMullen, president and COO of Kroger. “Tim is an exceptional leader. We are pleased he has agreed to lead our Delta division.”
Brown began his Kroger career at the age of 17, working as a bagger at a store in Illinois. He joined the company’s management training program in 1981. Throughout his 34-year career, Brown has served in leadership positions in merchandising and operations in seven of Kroger’s retail divisions and at the company’s general office in Cincinnati, Ohio. He served as VP of merchandising in the Columbus, Atlanta and Mid-Atlantic divisions before being named VP of retail operations for the Mid-Atlantic division. Brown has served on the boards of the Georgia Food Industry Association, the Georgia Chamber of Commerce, and the Feeding America Southwest Virginia Food Bank.
Kroger, the nation’s largest traditional grocery retailer, employs more than 339,000 associates who serve customers in 2,435 supermarkets and multi-department stores in 31 states under two dozen local banner names including Kroger, City Market, Dillons, Jay C, Food 4 Less, Fred Meyer, Fry’s, King Soopers, QFC, Ralphs and Smith’s. The company also operates 791 convenience stores, 348 fine jewelry stores, 1,090 supermarket fuel centers and 39 food processing plants in the U.S.
