Tyler, Texas-based Brookshire Grocery Co. officials announced Thursday that its 152 Brookshire’s and Super 1 Foods stores in Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas will no longer sell ground beef containing lean finely textured beef.
“While the USDA has determined it to be safe, customers have said they do not wish to purchase the product. This change will be complete by mid-April,” the company said in a news release. “Officials said, as always, customers wishing to ensure they do not receive meat containing finely textured beef before then can purchase the store’s premium ground beef.”
