Mark Coborn Announces Retirement

Mark Coborn, an EVP and board member with the grocery retail company that bears his family name, has announced his retirement. The St. Cloud Times reports that Coborn is stepping down from his executive role in the next few weeks but will continue to serve on the board of directors for Coborn’s Inc.

Coborn's logo“It has been an honor and a privilege to work with the many talented and dedicated employees at Coborn’s,” Coborn said in a statement. “I have appreciated their hard-working and caring spirit. Under the direction of our leadership team, I am confident Coborn’s will continue to succeed as I transition out of my role and embark on my retirement journey.”

A successor has not been named; business operations will continue as usual, according to the Minnesota-based company.

Coborn began his career at age 13 in 1975, cleaning the parking lot at the Coborn’s in Sauk Rapids. Thirty-eight years later, he has progressed through responsibilities including training director, human resources director and VP of human resources.

He serves on the boards for the United Way of Central Minnesota and the CentraCare Health Foundation.

“As a fellow fourth-generation family member of Coborn’s, I sincerely appreciate the years of service Mark has given to us,” Coborn’s President and CEO Chris Coborn said in a statement. “He has always championed doing what is best for our employees. I am thankful that he will still serve in his role on the board of directors, where he will continue to advocate for reinvestment and growth.”
