Fresh & Easy Announces 2012 Design-A-Bag Contest Winner

Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market has announced that Eimi Marritt, a Las Vegas customer, as the 2012 Design-A-Bag Contest winner. Marritt’s winning bag design features an artistic portrayal of a fresh strawberry, lime and orange using a splatter effect on a white background. Her design will be made into Fresh & Easy’s next reusable bag and will be available in all stores by the end of the year.

Fresh & Easy winning bag designAfter being chosen as one of 10 finalists from nearly 600 original bag designs earlier in the year, Marritt’s design was selected as the winner by Fresh & Easy’s Rewards Program Members. More than 25,000 votes were cast by Fresh & Easy customers who have signed up for the company’s rewards program at www.freshandeasy.com/friends. Marritt will be awarded the contest’s grand prize, a year’s worth of free groceries, valued at $5,000.

“I am so excited to have won Fresh & Easy’s 2012 Design-A-Bag Contest and thank all of Fresh & Easy’s customers who voted for my design,” said Marritt. “I love shopping at Fresh & Easy and had a blast creating the design and can’t wait to see it in stores.”

For the past three years, the contest has continued to elicit customer creativity and interest in using reusable bags,” said John Burry, Fresh & Easy’s chief customer officer. “We’re excited and anxious to see Eimi’s reusable bag design in our stores soon.”

Last year’s limited-edition winning bag, which was designed by another Las Vegas customer, Tonya Jacobsen, quickly became a coveted item for customers. The Design-A-Bag Contest is part of a continued effort by Fresh & Easy to encourage customers to reduce waste by using reusable bags. Fresh & Easy currently offers many affordable reusable bag options, including a few for only 99 cents each.
