Baloga Joins PFMA As Director Of Government Relations

PFMA's Alex Baloga

Alex Baloga has joined the Pennsylvania Food Merchants Association (PFMA) as its director of government relations. He will lead PFMA’s government relations efforts at the local, state and federal level.

“Alex brings a wealth of legislative knowledge and contacts to our government relations team,” said David McCorkle, PFMA president and CEO. “His experience will allow PFMA to continue our effective communication of food industry issues to legislators. We are excited to have him join our team.”

Baloga most recently served as deputy finance director for Robert P. Casey’s re-election campaign for U.S. senator, where he directed the fundraising activities in central Pennsylvania. He has extensive contacts from his experience as an associate lobbyist for Greenlee Partners LLC, a premier government relations firm with offices in Harrisburg, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, a news release says.

In addition, he worked in U.S. Sen. Bob Casey’s government office as a regional field manager, serving as the senator’s liaison to government, community and constituent groups in central Pennsylvania, monitoring local issues and developments, and representing Casey at civic meetings and community events.

Baloga earned his bachelor’s degree in history with a specialty in political science from West Virginia University. Additionally, he is working toward a master’s degree in public administration.

The PFMA advocates the views of convenience stores, supermarkets, independent grocers, wholesalers and consumer product vendors. Its 1,000 supermarket, grocery store and convenience store members operate more than 4,000 retail food stores in Pennsylvania.
