Winn-Dixie Leases Former Bruno’s Location In Birmingham

Winn-Dixie

Winn-Dixie has finalized a lease in the former Bruno’s location in the Inverness Corners shopping center in Birmingham, Ala.

The Birmingham Business Journal reports that, after more than a year of negotiations, the grocery chain signed a 20-year lease Tuesday for about 54,000 s.f. in the center at the intersection of U.S. 280 and Valleydale Road, said Bayer Properties Inc.’s Sam Heide.

Heide represented the landlord, LaSalle Investment Management, while Meade Silsbee of Retail Specialists Inc. represented the tenant.

Both LaSalle and Winn-Dixie plan on making “substantial” renovations to the center, Heide told the Journal. He declined to disclose an estimated cost of the renovations, but said construction would begin in March.

The Winn-Dixie, which is slated to open in the fall, will be one of the Jacksonville, Fla.-based chain’s newer models. Winn-Dixie is a subsidiary of BI-LO Holding.
