The National Grocers Association (NGA), by recommendation of its nominating committee and a subsequent vote by its membership, recently elected 13 and reelected six members to its board of directors. At the 2013 NGA Show at the Mirage Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas earlier this month, the board confirmed its officers and the 2013 executive committee members.
Those elected to the board of directors include Bill White, president and CEO for Belle Foods, based in Birmingham, Ala.
White and his son Jeff acquired the 57-store Southern Family Markets supermarket chain in July 2012 and are in the process of rebranding all stores in the chain under the Belle Foods banner over the next couple of years. Prior to the acquisition, White most recently was the CFO for Big Y Foods, based in Springfield, Mass., and previously served in several CFO positions with retail companies over the past 25 years, mostly supermarket retailers.
“We are excited to have Bill join the NGA board of directors,” said Peter J. Larkin, NGA’s president and CEO. “It takes good leaders like him to further the association’s mission and accomplish its goals, and we think 2013 will be a great year.”
