Kay’s Naturals, producer of gluten-free, diabetes-friendly, high-protein and fiber foods, has added Harris Teeter and Stop & Shop stores to its list of food, drug and mass retailers—joining Walgreens, H-E-B, Kerr Drug and Albertsons.
Clara City, Minn.-based Kay’s Naturals produces a line of gluten-free snacks and cereals so nutrition dense that Kay’s calls them “Mini Meals.” Kay’s Naturals’ credits its acceptance into FDM with the company’s advances in producing innovative, nutritious and appetizing gluten-free foods to replace empty, high-calorie junk foods. With 24 SKUs in 16 flavors, each 1.2-oz. serving has as much protein as three small eggs and as much fiber as an apple, according to a company news release. Kay’s Naturals is the first company in the market to make its high-protein offerings gluten free.
“We looked at what was available in the market and found an urgent need for diabetes-friendly snacks, cereals and cookies that are truly delicious,” says company founder and food scientist Dr. Massoud Kazemzadeh. “With diabetes and obesity rising at alarming rates, we need better food options in the marketplace—not just for people with diabetes, but for the entire population. Kay’s Naturals provides these options and we are aggressively expanding our product line to meet this market need.”
In addition to consumers with diabetes, Kay’s Naturals’ gluten-free products also are suited for sports nutrition and weight-loss customers, due to their balance of protein, fiber and carbohydrates.
Kay’s products also are available across the country in doctor’s offices and natural foods stores. Kay’s single-serve grab-and-go bags come in 6-pack sleeves for stationary shelves. They also are peg friendly and ideal for delis, the company says.
