Kraft Foods Group’s Omar Khalaf has been promoted to VP of industry development following the recent announcement that Regenia Stein intends to retire.

Khalaf will be responsible for leading Kraft sales and industry development with a focus on category and customer development opportunities.

“Omar’s various experiences in field and customer development roles will provide a great platform for him to lead this function,” says Tom Corley, EVP and president of sales for Kraft Foods Group.

Khalaf began his career in the food industry 30 years ago in his hometown of Lynwood, Calif. He spent nine years in retail before joining Nabisco as a sales representative in Vernon, Calif., in 1990. Over the next 22 years, he served in various management positions including senior director of planning and insights for the West and customer VP of the West region, managing the West area regional customers. In June 2010, Khalaf was appointed to the position of customer VP, leading the Safeway team for Kraft.

Khalaf currently resides in the North Shore of Illinois with his wife Heather and two daughters Ava and Isabel. He was featured in Hispanic World Magazine in June 2011 and is a graduate of Long Beach State University.
