NGA President Applauds Senate Passage Of Immigration Reform

Immigration reform

National Grocers Association (NGA) President and CEO Peter J. Larkin released the following statement today on the bi-partisan passage in the U.S. Senate of the Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act (SB 744).

“I applaud the Senate for passing comprehensive bi-partisan legislation today to overhaul American’s immigration system for the first time since 1986. While no bill is ever perfect this legislation is an important step in the right direction by embracing comprehensive reform that addresses the real challenges facing our nation today, while ensuring protections for employers acting in good faith.

“It’s now time for the House to follow the Senate’s lead by passing a bi-partisan, comprehensive bill. NGA looks forward to continuing to work with the House of Representatives to do just that.”
