FoodLink Adds New Produce Traceability Customers

FoodLink, a leader in supply chain and commerce solutions for the fresh food industry, has announced a series of new customers that have selected its FoodLink PTI supply chain traceability solution for fresh produce.

Retail grocers are requiring new levels of information about the origin and history of the fresh food they sell. As a result, growers and shippers of fresh produce are turning to solutions such as FoodLink to simplify compliance with new industry standards for labeling and tracking products. FoodLink combines advanced case and item-level tracking with a broad commerce network of buyers and sellers transacting over the FoodLink network. The cloud-based solution is used by leading produce companies such as Tanimura & Antle, Green Giant Growers Express, Ocean Mist and California Giant Berry Farms to enable faster and more cost effective sharing of information about where food is grown and packed through the stages of harvesting, packing, shipping, sales and receiving.

“FoodLink has a long history of helping produce suppliers of all sizes comply with retailer requirements,” said Kevin Brooks, chief marketing officer for FoodLink. “Now that some of the largest retailers are mandating PTI data on inbound shipments, we’re seeing a new wave of customers looking for practical, affordable technology to help them track the origin and movement of fresh food. We’re happy to help them succeed.”

New growers and shippers choosing the FoodLink PTI solution include Coastal Fresh Farms Inc., Garden Fresh Vegetables LLC and Rincon Farms.

Coastal Fresh Farms

For Coastal Fresh Farms, a grower-shipper of fresh bunched vegetables located in Oxnard, Calif., the decision to go with FoodLink was seen as the next step in becoming PTI compliant.

“We were looking for something that would work with our current system of tracking product in and out of our facility,” said Len Cole, president of Coastal Fresh Farms “FoodLink was the perfect fit for our operation.”

Garden Fresh Vegetables

Nebraska-based Garden Fresh Vegetables is in the hydroponic vegetable/fruit business, producing and selling fresh tomatoes and cucumbers year round. The greenhouse process is designed to ripen produce naturally, not through artificial chemicals.

“We’re a fairly unique operation, so we needed a PTI solution that was extremely easy to use but could still accommodate some of our distinctive ways of operating,” said Marv Fritz, CEO of Garden Fresh Vegetables. “FoodLink fit the bill perfectly, and we are moving quickly toward fully automating traceability across all products.”

Rincon Farms

Rincon Farms grows and packs organic and conventional avocados with operations along the California coast.

“There are plenty of ways to get labels on boxes, but FoodLink really stood out from the other solutions on the market due to their team, their technology and their price,” said Carlos Escamilla, GM of Rincon Farms. “With FoodLink, we have guaranteed compliance with all our retailers, and we’re working with a partner that keeps us aligned with those requirements today and in the future.”
