WinCo Foods will open its first discount supermarkets in Texas on Thursday. The Fort Worth store is located at 8000 Crowley Lane and the McKinney store is located at 1800 N. Graves St.
Each store is approximately 95,000 s.f. and includes WinCo’s newest decor package creating an efficient, clean feel that highlights product and coordinates with the hundreds of WinCo Foods private label products the company has recently introduced, according to the company. The Fort Worth store will initially employ approximately 180 individuals, 170 of which have been hired locally; the McKinney store will open with approximately 170 employees, 160 hired locally.
The stores feature WinCo’s “Wall of Values” at the entry. The main sales floor of each store encompasses a large fresh produce department, bulk foods, meat, deli, seafood and bakery service departments. The bulk foods department allows customers to buy only the amount they want and displays more than 900 items, including many natural food products, some organics, snacks, candies, cereals, flours, pastas, spices and more.
Fort Worth Store Manager Casey Ray transfers to the store from Roy, Utah, and has been with the company for 13 years. McKinney Store Manager Hollie Keller transfers to the store from Kent, Wash., and is a 25-year veteran with WinCo.
WinCo Foods is an employee-owned company founded in 1967 in Boise, Idaho. It operates as a regional discount supermarket company currently employing nearly 15,000 people and operating 93 stores and four distribution centers in Washington, Idaho, Nevada, California, Oregon, Arizona, Utah and Texas. WinCo is in the process of building a new distribution center in Phoenix, which will service stores in Arizona, Southern California and Southern Nevada.
