- Celebrity chef and restaurateur Tom Colicchio joined several U.S. lawmakers last week in reintroducing the Genetically Engineered Food Right To Know bill, which would direct the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to require that food manufacturers label foods containing genetically modified food ingredients. Another legislator, Rep. Mike Pompeo, is expected to reintroduce the Safe and Accurate Food Labeling Act, which would codify the current system of manufacturer GMO labeling and pre-emept GMO labeling laws in Vermont, Maine and Connecticut.
- L&R Distributors in Brooklyn, N.Y., promoted Marc Bodner and Reilly Murray. Mr. Bodner, previously the president of L&R, will take the role of chief executive officer. Mr. Murray, previously senior vice president, will move into the role of president. Mr. Murray began his career with Revlon Cosmetics and also held management roles with Rita Ann Distributors and Allied Supply.

- General Mills plans to label several varieties of Cheerios as “Gluten Free” beginning in July.
