California Grocery Veteran Rick Fry Dies At 62

Mr. Rick Fry, who spent 47 years in the grocery business and became well known and respected as a top industry leader in grocery marketing and operations, died unexpectedly March 14 in California due to post lung cancer treatment complications. He was 62.

Since November 2012, Mr. Fry was a managing partner at Coastal Marketing Group, serving as a retail grocery and manufacturing consultant, according to his LinkedIn profile. Prior to that, he was COO of Cardenas Markets and SVP of sales, warehousing and procurement, at Northgate Markets. He also served as VP of purchasing and merchandising at Superior Grocers for six years, from 2000-06.

Mr. Fry is survived by his wife of 31 years, Debbie; sons, Rick and Garrett, daughter-in-law, Annie; daughter-in-law-to-be, Stacy; grandchildren, Connor and Natalie; nieces and nephews; and a large extended family.

Memorial services for Mr. Fry will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, March 23, at The Villa, 510 E. Katella, in Orange, Calif.
