Contestants of the Miss USA Pageant got a real taste of Louisiana over the weekend as the 51 participants were treated to some of the best on the bayou. The Louisiana Seafood Board along with retail members of Associated Grocers hosted a Seafood Extravaganza on Saturday at Nottoway Plantation near Baton Rouge.
Zydeco filled the air on this Louisiana evening, and so did the aroma of a variety of local seafood dishes, all prepared by local chefs. “Expert” crawfish peelers were on hand to assist many of the ladies who experienced a crawfish boil for the first time.
“What a great opportunity to show off what our area has to offer at a national level,” said Seth Stutzman, SVP of retail operations for Associated Grocers. “And our local Associated food stores were so excited to show off their signature items alongside the amazing chefs, especially our New Orleans Original Almond Cake.”
The Miss USA Pageant takes place Sunday, June 8, at the Baton Rouge River Center in Baton Rouge. The 63rd annual event will be hosted by Guliana Rancic and Thomas Roberts and will feature music by Florida Georgia Line, with special guest Nelly, and Marc Broussard.
