From May 5-31, Piggly Wiggly was on the lookout for a fresh take on its long-time “Piggly Wiggly, Shop the Pig!” jingle. It reached out to employees as well as customers to submit their own version of the catchy tune. The company said it was an ideal time to switch up the jingle, and with sponsor Fiora, maker of tissue and towel products, the Piggly Wiggly Jingle Contest quickly became a reality. Contestants did not need any musical experience; just a catchy verse and a computer.
“We had an overwhelming number of entries for our jingle contest, which made deciding on a new voice for our famous ‘Shop the Pig’ jingle a welcomed challenge,” said Nicole Neimolf, marketing manager, Piggly Wiggly Midwest.
Eva Nimmer, an actor/singer out of Plymouth, Wis., was chosen as the grand prize winner of the jingle contest. Nimmer was awarded a $1,000 Piggly Wiggly gift card, was able to professionally record her jingle in a recording studio, and will have her jingle periodically played in Piggly Wiggly’s radio and TV advertisements. There also were many runners-up and honorable mentions who did not walk away empty handed. From tickets to The Voice Tour, to t-shirts, and professional NFL gear, there were many prizes to go around. See more entries here.
