Progresso Rolls Out Six New Soup Flavors

Progresso Soup Season

Progresso Soup is introducing six new varieties, bringing the entire Progresso ready-to-eat soup line to include more than 90 flavors.

“Families are looking for more options to add to their menus that are fast, fulfilling and flavorful,” said Valerie Mastroianna, associate marketing manager for Progresso Soup. “Our soups are made with high-quality ingredients and crafted with care, offering homemade taste in a convenient way.”

Jill Haspert, fellow associate marketing manager, added, “Many Progresso consumers are seeking exciting new flavor options, but are also looking to manage their weight. They don’t want to sacrifice great flavor while watching their calories. Progresso offers 40 soups with 100 calories or less per serving that are great ways to manage calories while still enjoying the creamy, savory flavors our consumers are craving.”

For those looking for savory soups with hearty vegetables, the latest varieties include two new Vegetable Classic flavors: Tuscan-Style White Bean and Southwestern-Style Corn with Potatoes & Peppers.

“While consumers know it is important to eat their veggies, they often get bored with their vegetable routines. We believe vegetables taste better in soup because they are simmered in our savory broth and seasoned with the perfect blend of herbs and spices,” said Mastroianna. “Whether it’s our classic Minestrone, with thick-cut carrots and green beans, or our new Tuscan-Style White Bean, loaded with juicy tomatoes and tender great northern beans, our soups are both delicious and satisfying.”

Progresso Light is launching two new flavorful soups with 100 calories or less. All Progresso Light soups have 100 calories or less per serving.

Progresso Light Creamy Chicken Alfredo with Pasta contains 100 calories per serving. There are no artificial flavors or added MSG. The new Light Savory Beef Barley Vegetable has 80 calories per serving, is low fat and has no artificial flavors or added MSG. Both flavors have at least 33 percent fewer calories than regular ready-to-serve soup, according to Progresso.

Progresso Light soup is the only light soup endorsed by Weight Watchers and all flavors are 2 PointsPlus value per serving or less.

Other additions include Traditional Creamy Roasted Chicken with Herb Dumplings and Creamy Tomato with Bacon and Cheese.

Creamy Roasted Chicken with Herb Dumplings combines a savory broth with chicken, onions, carrots, celery and spaetzle dumplings. The Creamy Tomato with Bacon and Cheese is a blend of cheese, real bacon and creamy tomatoes, seasoned with a hint of garlic. They have no artificial flavors or added MSG.

All Progresso soups are available nationally in the soup aisle and have a suggested retail price of $2.39 (Vegetable Classics)/$2.69 (Light and Traditional) per 18.5-oz. can.
