Kontos Foods Introduces Grilled Cocktail Flatbreads For The Holidays

Kontos Foods, a manufacturer and distributor of traditional Greek and Mediterranean foods, has launched grilled Cocktail Flatbreads for the holiday season. The soft, flexible, two-inch pita disks are ideal for creating holiday appetizers and hors d’oeuvres, such as hamburger sliders, bite-sized smoked salmon and avocado samplers, chicken salad with sliced cherry tomatoes, pizza samplers and more. The Cocktail Flatbreads, which have the same flavor and texture as Kontos Foods’ larger flatbreads, also can be used for cheese spreads, dips and bruschetta.

Kontos Foods says it has ramped up production to meet demand from retailers such as Winn-Dixie, Kings, WinCo and King Kullen.

“These mini pita breads are prepared using the same hand-stretching techniques as our regular-sized flatbreads. Hand-stretching the dough introduces air pockets, which, when baked, create extra fluffy bread that holds heat better when served warm,” said Steve Kontos, VP and owner of New Jersey-based Kontos Foods. “The grill marks create a Panini café-style appearance that makes for unique and special appetizers and hors d’oeuvres that are easy to prepare and serve.”

The Kontos Cocktail Flatbreads, which contain no trans fat and are 100 percent vegetarian, come in 20-piece retail packs. Kontos Foods is offering retailers Kontos-branded stand-alone units to display the product.

Select Restaurant Depot stores offer Kontos Cocktail Flatbreads with grill marks in 125-piece packs. Food service establishments such as restaurants or delis can purchase 648-piece bulk packs of mini flatbreads.
