Corona, California, resident and UCLA season ticket holder Mike Larson is the grand prize winner of the Kiolbassa Gridiron Tailgate Giveaway national promotion. He arrived in the Alamo City on Wednesday for the Valero Alamo Bowl, where Kansas State will take the UCLA Bruins beginning at 6:45 p.m. Jan. 2.
Joining Larson are his dad, Gary Larson, and two other family members to share in the football experience that includes roundtrip airfare, four tickets to the Valero Alamo Bowl and VIP sideline passes, a host of pre-game events, four nights at the Marriott Rivercenter as well as lunch with third-generation Kiolbassa family member and company President Michael Kiolbassa.
“Our brand has been providing slow-crafted sausage for generations of tailgaters,” said Kiolbassa. “We are excited to be able to host Mike, his dad Gary and his brother-in-law Edward Franco and father-in-law Danny Loya during their Valero Alamo Bowl experience in downtown San Antonio.”
Added Larson, “I am beyond grateful to the entire Kiolbassa family for their generosity in giving my family this wonderful gift during the holidays. We look forward to the trip, meeting Mr. Kiolbassa and enjoying San Antonio’s world-famous hospitality. And you can be sure the Larsons will be adding Kiolbassa to our grocery list often from here on out.”
San Antonio-based Kiolbassa makes its sausage by hand with only real meat, in small batches, and then slow smokes it in a traditional hardwood smokehouse before it leaves the plant. Kiolbassa products are filler and gluten free, according to the company.
“Our vision is to enrich the lives of others,” said Kiolbassa. “That’s why all of our team members are passionate about what they do at work and in their communities. Giving back to the community is something my grandfather taught us and that we still practice today.”
Kiolbassa’s decades-long football tailgating tradition has been featured nationally on the Food Network and written about in publications like Tailgater Monthly magazine. Kiolbassa is now available in select retailers in California as well as 46 states, Puerto Rico and Mexico.
