The Massachusetts Restaurant Association (MRA) is reviewing recommendations made by the state Attorney General’s office for implementing the Mandated Sick Leave Law. The next phase is a public comment period, and the AG’s office has scheduled a series of nine listening sessions and public hearings on the draft regulations to be held between May 8 and June 5 in Boston, Brockton, Fall River, Framingham, Lowell, Pittsfield, Salem, Springfield and Worcester, Massachusetts. According to the MRA, the Mandated Sick Leave Law is scheduled to take effect on July 1. The MRA plans to ask for a six-month delay in implementing this law to Jan. 1, 2016, as officials believe most employers will not have enough time to comply with this new mandate…
New Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker has frozen state plans to finance a $1 billion expansion of the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center. The governor recently appointed seven new members to the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority (MCCA), which supervises all state-funded convention centers. In addition, MCCA Executive Director Jim Rooney is moving to be the new CEO of the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce, and the state office of Administration and Finance has concerns about future forecasts for hotel room night bookings…
