Oklahoma convenience store operator OnCue surpassed its goal to raise $225,000 during the 24th annual St. Jude Halloween Promotion to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, whose mission is to lead the way in how the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases.

This is the eighth year OnCue has participated in the Halloween promotion, raising more than $1 million for St. Jude. Since the campaign began in 1992, the Halloween promotion has generated more than $83 million for St. Jude.

During the month-long promotion this year, participating restaurants, convenience stores, grocery stores and retail locations nationwide asked patrons to donate $1 or more to support the hospital’s life-saving mission of finding cures and saving children. In exchange, consumers received a Halloween-themed pinup that was displayed at OnCue’s locations.

“Cancer is a horrible disease that touches almost everybody one way or another, personally or friends and family. When it touches children, it is even more heart wrenching,” said Greg Webb, GM of purchasing at OnCue. “It is an honor to have the opportunity to raise awareness of childhood cancer and make a difference by partnering with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.”

Unlike any hospital, the majority of funding for St. Jude comes from individual contributors who participate in programs like the St. Jude Halloween Promotion. Thanks to these supporters, families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food.
