Stop & Shop has begun its annual holiday hunger relief programs. This year, Stop & Shop will donate more than 300,000 holiday meals to food banks and hunger relief organizations throughout New England. Additionally, all New England Stop & Shop stores will hold fundraising campaigns to benefit food pantries and regional food banks in their communities.

“Stop & Shop’s hunger relief programs help tens of thousands of families throughout New England put food on their tables, not just during the holidays but throughout the entire year,” said Judi Palmer, Stop & Shop’s director of marketing and external communications. “While we are very proud of the tremendous success of these programs, we remain steadfast in our mission to eradicate hunger.”

This year Stop & Shop’s Turkey Express program will make eight stops throughout New England delivering more than 13,000 turkeys to local organizations. Some of the New England organizations benefiting from the Turkey Express program include the Greater Boston Food Bank, Rhode Island Community Food Bank and the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts.

Through the annual Food for Friends program, customers can donate $1, $3 or $5 at checkout registers with 100 percent of the funds raised going directly to local community food pantries and regional food banks. Additionally, customers have the opportunity to purchase a $10 Hunger Box filled with trimmings for a holiday meal. These boxes will then be donated to local food pantries and regional food banks.

In 2015, Stop & Shop donated more than $12 million in cash and products to hunger relief organizations throughout the New England region.
