The deadline to nominate candidates for the Massachusetts Restaurant Association (MRA) Awards is Wednesday, Jan. 6. The evening dinner event will be held at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center on Monday, March 14, the second day of the New England Food Show. Ken Kelly, a Somerville, Massachusetts, restaurateur and business leader, and owner of several restaurants, recently passed away at age 44 after a long illness. He owned five Somerville restaurants: The Independent and Brass Union In Union Square, Foundry and Saloon in Davis Square and River Bar at Assembly Row.
