In its first staffing announcement since it was purchased by Boston private equity firm ArcLight Capital Partners, Gulf Oil says that Jay Davis has been appointed a new team leader for oil supply and trading. Davis, ex-senior director of fuels supply and transportation at 7-Eleven, Citgo and Wawa, brings more than 20 years of energy industry experience from supply optimization to transportation as well as business development.

In addition, SVP and Chief Marketing Officer Rick Dery is departing the company to pursue other opportunities in the energy industry. Dery was instrumental in the resurgence of the iconic Gulf brand that now flies flags in 34 states and Puerto Rico, the company says.

Company CEO Jerry Ashcroft said, “We are committed to the Gulf brand and its growth, and as such we are excited to welcome Jay onboard. He joins our strong team of talented individuals dedicated to providing limitless opportunities for our organization to expand and continue to succeed.”

Gulf is the Northeast’s major wholesaler of refined petroleum products, distributing motor fuels through a network of thousands of branded gasoline retail centers and 1,000 private label outlets operated by major chain retailers in 30 states. Gulf’s fuel distribution network stretches from Maine to Texas. Gulf also owns and operates proprietary terminals and supplies gasoline, heating oil, diesel fuel, jet fuel and kerosene through its network of 75 other refined petroleum product terminals.
