NRA Launches #RestaurantsDecide, And More…

The National Restaurant Association has launched #RestaurantsDecide, an initiative showcasing the role restaurants play as cornerstones of their community during elections—convening candidates, voters and employees, managers and owners on the campaign trail. Using Twitter and Facebook, #RestaurantsDecide will encourage restaurants, employees and patrons across America to join the National Restaurant Association in tracking each presidential candidate as they visit eateries across the country. Rising stars of the pastry world will compete for Pastry Chef of the Year at Paris Gourmet’s U.S. Pastry Competition, taking place at the International Restaurant & Foodservice Show of New York on Sunday, March 6, at the Jacob Javits Convention Center.  The U.S. Pastry Competition is America’s most prestigious pastry competition, according to organizers. The trade show will bring together thousands of foodservice, restaurant and hospitality professionals from New York State and will feature more than 550 leading vendors, Ferdinand Metz Foodservice Forum education sessions and “buzz-building” special events. The show runs March 6-8…

Allset, a mobile app for restaurants, recently rolled out its service at 40 restaurants in New York City. Allset has expanded to the East Coast after launching the app with 50 restaurants in San Francisco and Palo Alto, California. Restaurants in New York are eligible to use the app and allow lunchtime diners to book a table, pre-order their food and pay their bill.
