The new Festival Foods grocery store in Madison, Wisconsin, located at 810 East Washington Avenue, is expected to open April 8.

The store will be Festival Foods’ 22nd location in Wisconsin. It will offer natural and organic foods, fresh sushi, a healthy salad and hot food bar as well as an extensive deli and catering services. It also features a seating area above the deli, a community conference room and a Tot Spot, which is Festival Foods’ supervised in-store childcare service.

The Madison location will feature Orion skylights and “green” equipment, including LED and motion sensor lighting. This store also introduces an additional element to further reduce its carbon footprint at this location—the use of round timber in place of steel or concrete for the structural frame, beams and trusses of the building. By repurposing ash trees around Madison that had to be removed due to the emerald ash borer, Festival Foods is able to offer a beautiful alternative to traditional structural materials. WholeTrees partnered with Festival Foods on the unique project.

“Madison represents a key opportunity to expand our business and to better serve our growing customer base throughout southeast Wisconsin. We are honored to become a member of this wonderful Wisconsin community,” said Mark Skogen, president and CEO of Festival Foods. “In today’s marketplace, consumers have high expectations for the value they receive for their money as well as how they are treated. We are excited about the opportunity to offer Madison guests value-driven pricing, a wide selection that includes healthy choices and a great shopping experience.”

The store will employ an estimated 200 people.
