Fry’s Opens New Marketplace In Phoenix

Last updated on July 21st, 2016 at 08:11 am

The Shelby Report’s Southwest VP Tom Maloney was present for the opening of the new Fry’s Marketplace in Phoenix on July 15. The store is located at 1311 E. Bell Road.

The 124,070-s.f. Marketplace features a wine bar that serves a wide selection of wines as well as local craft beer; a specialty cheese shop; a sushi station; and a Starbucks. Fry’s, a division of The Kroger Co., also offers the chain’s ClickList service, which offers curbside pickup of customers’ online orders.

The store features a mural in the Bistro seating area. The mural artist, Lauren Lee, was chosen from among 23 Phoenix area artists. The mural draws upon iconographic imagery from the nearby community and celebrates the diverse landscape and wildlife of Arizona’s desert.

Fry’s announced in March that it would be adding seven new stores in Arizona this year, six of them the Marketplace format stores that offer not only a full selection of groceries but also apparel and other general merchandise. The chain said it would invest $260 million on these projects.
