Cott Corp. plans to acquire S&D Coffee, a premium coffee roaster and provider of customized coffee, tea and extract solutions to the foodservice, convenience, gas, hospitality and office segments in the U.S. Cott CEO Jerry Fowden said, “The S&D acquisition is another great step in our stated strategy to enhance our existing home and office water delivery, coffee, tea and filtration businesses where we believe our platform, operating strength and synergies can be leveraged. After closing the S&D acquisition, we will have a leading position in the coffee and tea foodservice industry in North America, which is an excellent complement to our leading HOD water, office coffee and filtration business.”…
Fresh Gourmet Co., manufacturers of croutons and salad toppings, recently named JOH Produce Account Manager Dan Matrazzo as the 2015 Account Executive of the Year. Matrazzo was given the honor for his efforts in growing the Fresh Gourmet business through promotional activity and developing, as well as maintaining, relationships. He was praised for streamlining distribution and transitioning to better-selling items at the store level while ensuring that key merchandising support was not lost during the conversion. “Dan was instrumental in gaining new distribution on key items that Fresh Gourmet launched along with expanding distribution on other items,” said David Myers, Midwest regional sales manager at Sugar Foods/Fresh Gourmet. “Dan should be commended for his efforts.”…
Blue Harvest Fisheries of New York City has acquired Hygrade Ocean Products, a New Bedford, Massachusetts-based processor and distributor of scallops, cod and other premium fish products. Blue Harvest will begin marketing and distributing company-landed scallops, bluefin tuna and swordfish directly to customers. With operations in Newport News, Virginia, and Fairhaven, Massachusetts, Blue Harvest owns a fleet of 15 scallop vessels and is an active participant in the bluefin tuna and swordfish fisheries.
