This holiday season, Sprouts Farmers Market invites customers to join it once again in fighting hunger. Through Dec. 31, shoppers are encouraged to purchase and donate a bag of groceries and other items to the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma through the grocer’s Grab ‘N Give food drive.
Participating Sprouts metro locations include:
• 6410 N. May Avenue in Oklahoma City
• 12200 N. MacArthur Boulevard in Oklahoma City
• 24 E. 2nd Street in Edmond
• 559 W. Main in Norman
• 909 W. 6th Avenue in Stillwater
• 1105 Garth Brooks in Yukon
Last year alone, 40,421 pounds of food were donated by Sprouts shoppers, which provided the equivalent of more than 33,000 meals for children, seniors and families struggling with hunger.
“We want to thank Sprouts and its customers for fighting hunger in Oklahoma this holiday season,” said Katie Fitzgerald, CEO of the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma. “The people we serve depend upon the generosity of others to help keep food on their table. We are grateful that so many have stepped up to feed their hungry neighbors this winter.”
Thanks to a matching challenge from APMEX.com, the Cresap Family Foundation and Chesapeake Energy Corp., every gift the food bank receives through Jan. 15 will be matched, dollar for dollar, up to $600,000, for a total impact of $1.2 million.
One in six Oklahomans struggles with hunger, making Oklahoma one of the hungriest states in America. The Regional Food Bank provides enough food to feed more than 126,000 Oklahomans every week, 37 percent of whom are children.
