Kings Food Markets Appoints New CFO, Makes Other Personnel Changes

Kings Food Markets, a 25-unit upscale supermarket chain in New Jersey, New York, and Connecticut, has a new CFO and also has made several changes to its executive, operations and merchant teams.

Daniel Gallagher has been appointed EVP and CFO. He comes to Kings with more than 16 years of experience in senior management positions and will oversee the grocery chain’s finance and loss prevention teams.

Kings has promoted Jessica Gasser to EVP of strategic services. She will continue to oversee the areas of human resources, labor relations and information technology, while taking on the additional responsibility for leading strategic initiatives for the company.

Joseph Parisi is SVP of operations. A 27-year Kings veteran, he has held positions with increasing levels of responsibility, most recently as VP of operations. In his new role, he will continue to oversee the operations team, as well as take on new leadership responsibilities. 

Arthur Goncalves is VP of center store. He will oversee center store operations as well as pricing, brands and shelf management. Over the past 20 years, he has held various positions in the business, including general store manager, manager of category space allocation, store development manager, seafood director and VP of produce and floral.

Donna Mastellone is VP of produce and floral. She will oversee the category-management business plans for the produce and floral departments. The 18-year Kings veteran has held numerous roles within the organization, most recently as floral director, specialty boutique sales and merchandising.

Allen Merken is senior director of engineering, maintenance and construction. He will continue to oversee remodels and renovations. In his new role, he will support the company’s growth plans through additional involvement in site selection, analysis and planning.

Thomas McNerney is senior director of operations and will oversee the operations and quality assurance departments.

Kathe Benjamin is director of human resources and labor relations. Benjamin will oversee all aspects of human resources, including recruitment and retention, employee-labor relations, training and performance management and compensation and benefits.

In addition Paul Hamilton is produce buyer and Michele Edwards is floral buyer. Hamilton will work closely with the produce/floral teams to develop new programs and in-store experiences that will continue to evolve the produce and floral departments. Edwards is a 31-year Kings veteran who now leads the buying efforts for the floral teams.
