Ciraulo Elevated To SVP Of Fresh Foods At Stater Bros.

Stater Bros. Markets has promoted John Ciraulo to SVP of fresh foods, overseeing and managing the supermarket chain’s perishable departments.

“John is a well-respected and valuable member of the Stater Bros. family,” said Stater Bros. President and CEO Pete Van Helden. “John’s broad knowledge of perishable foods in addition to his extensive marketing and retail experience will allow the company to implement new programs and tailor our fresh offerings to meet the current and future needs of our valued customers.”

Ciraulo has worked at Stater Bros. for more than 31 years and has progressed through a range of both retail and marketing positions. He joined the San Bernardino, California-based company in 1986 as a meat clerk at its South Fontana location. He was promoted in 1988 to apprentice meat cutter at the company’s Highland/Muscupiabe location in San Bernardino and in 1990 was promoted to meat department manager at the company’s South Rialto supermarket.

Ciraulo was promoted to retail meat supervisor in 1999. In 2007, he was promoted to buyer/merchandiser in the marketing department, and later that year he became a meat buyer in the marketing/meat division. In 2010, Ciraulo was promoted to director of marketing in the meat division and in 2014 he was promoted to meat division VP, his most recent position.

Ciraulo earned a vocational teaching credential from California State University, San Bernardino, in 2001 and is an instructor for the Stater Bros. Meat Cutting Apprentice Program. He is a 2006 graduate of both the WAFC Retail Management Program at San Bernardino Valley College and the University of Southern California Food Industry Management Program. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business management from the University of Phoenix and a master’s degree in business management from the University of Redlands and has completed the credential program for Certified Food Safety Professionals from the National Environmental Health Association. In his spare time, Ciraulo teaches at Cerritos College.

Stater Bros. currently operates 169 supermarkets in Southern California.
