Albertsons has confirmed that Lori Raya, president of its Southern California division, has switched roles with Shane Dorcheus, president of the Southwest division.

An Albertsons spokesperson told The Shelby Report Monday that “Lori Raya and Shane Dorcheus were swapped, essentially. Lori transferred to the Southwest division and Shane transferred to SoCal.”

An internal memo reportedly was circulated announcing the change.

The Southern California division includes the Albertsons, Vons and Pavilions banner stores; it had 352 stores as of September 2016 and is the largest of Albertsons’ 14 divisions.

Raya was named president of the Southern California division in January 2015 after having served as president of the Vons division, formerly owned by Safeway, since 2012. She began her career with Safeway in 1992, at a store in Aurora, Colorado. She was named The Shelby Report’s West Woman Executive of the Year in December 2016.

Dorcheus started his career with Albertsons in 1980 and continued to serve as Southwest division president when Albertsons LLC announced its division leadership in February 2013 after acquiring stores from Supervalu.

Looking at the Albertsons website, the Southwest division comprises about 80 stores in Arizona, New Mexico, southern Utah, the southwestern corner of Colorado and southern Nevada. Albertsons also operates a corporate office in Deer Valley, outside Phoenix, according to the website.
