Food Lion is celebrating the grand opening of its newest North Carolina store, located at 161 Crenshaw Corners Drive, in Wake Forest, today. The new store will employ about 90 associates, creating approximately 25 new jobs in the Wake Forest community.
The store opened to the public at 8:00 a.m., following a 7:45 a.m. ribbon-cutting ceremony. As part of today’s festivities, the first 100 customers received a free tote bag and mystery gift card valued between $5 and $200. Also at the ceremony, Food Lion donated the equivalent of 20,000 meals to the food pantry at nearby Richland Creek Community Church as part of the grocer’s hunger-relief initiative, Food Lion Feeds.
“Food Lion has been a proud member of the Wake Forest community for nearly 30 years, and we look forward to creating an easier shopping experience for our customers,” said Mike Hall, director of operations for the greater Wake Forest area. “We look forward to bringing an expanded assortment of quality, fresh products to our customers, while keeping the low prices they expect from Food Lion. We look forward to welcoming the community into our new store.”
Customers will experience a new walk-in garden cooler in the store’s produce section, expanded offerings in the deli department, more organic produce and an in-store pizza bar. The store has an expanded floral area and a deli featuring a selection of grab-and-go meals, a wing and soup bar and other new items.
The new store will be open daily from 6:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m.
