Dick Grotton
Richard (Dick) Grotton, one of the best respected New England food service association executives, will be retiring by the end of 2013, He is president and chief executive officer of the Maine Restaurant Association a Maine non-profit business trade association dedicated to enhancing prosperity for Maine restaurants.
Mr. Grotton has been a real estate developer and owner-operator of four successful Maine restaurants and an industry consultant for almost 40 years. His past restaurant creations included Pizza Plus in Scarborough in 1974, Gorham Station Restaurant in Gorham in 1980, Jameson Tavern Restaurant in Freeport in 198, 2 and Channel Crossing Restaurant in South Portland in 1984.
He holds a bachelor of science degree in business administration from the University of Maine and has been at the helm of this important statewide business trade group since 1994.
He is a member of the (National) Council of State Restaurant Associations, Restaurant Association Executives of New England, The Maine Society of Association Executives, the Advisory Council to the Southern Maine Community College Culinary Arts Department, Advisory Council to the Eastern Maine Community College Culinary Arts Department, a member of the Board of Directors of the Maine Tourism Association, a past member of the Board of Directors of the International Society of Restaurant Association Executives, a past member of the Board of Directors of the Maine Lobster Promotion Council and a past member of the former Maine Tourism Commission.
Mr. Grotton has been a Maine licensed emergency medical technician for 33 years and member and former captain of the Cape Elizabeth Rescue Unit in his home community of Cape Elizabeth, Maine.
