Anthea Jones, industry veteran and longtime BI-LO employee, has stepped into the role of president. He also is serving as SVP of operations for BI-LO. Jones succeeds former President and CEO Michael Byars who, according to BI-LO’s Facebook page, is now the chairman of board for BI-LO Charities. No official public announcement has been made about the executive change, which took effect in January.

As SVP of operations and president, Jones, according to his LinkedIn profile, is responsible for sales, earnings and enhancing the customer experience through effective customer service while maintaining a strong brand identity across 206 stores in North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Georgia.

Jones joined BI-LO in 1999 after a 17-year stint at Food Lion. Before being promoted to SVP of operations and president earlier this year, he was BI-LO’s SVP of store operations. He had held a number of other positions with BI-LO prior to that. He also is the immediate past board chairman (2011-12) of the Global Market Development Center.

BI-LO, which completed its acquisition of the Winn-Dixie banner last year, moved the combined company’s headquarters to Winn-Dixie’s home base of Jacksonville, Fla. BI-LO said then, however, that it would maintain a strong presence in its home state of South Carolina. Jones is based in the Greenville area, according to LinkedIn.

Jones holds a bachelor of science degree in economics and statistics from North Carolina State University and an MBA from Shepperton University, his LinkedIn page says.

Randall Onstead continues as president and CEO of the combined company, BI-LO Holding LLC.
