The Folsom, Calif., Walmart is getting an expansion and a facelift starting today. The company said the expansion at the location at 1018 Riley St. will bring about 85 new jobs to the city.
The store will stay open during the expansion that will add about 26,796 s.f. According to the Sacramento Business Journal, construction is expected to be finished in the fall of 2012.
Folsom Mayor Andy Morin said in a statement that that he was pleased that Walmart would be adding more jobs. “The new store’s architecture and offerings will make one of Folsom’s oldest shopping centers an attractive place to shop,” Morin said in a statement.
The Walmart expansion will also bring a full line of grocery offerings, from produce, meat and dairy, a bakery and a deli.
Walmart also expects to bring temporary jobs to the project while the store is being expanded. Reeve-Knight Construction Inc. is the general contractor.
Across California, Bentonville, Ark.-based Wal-Mart Stores Inc. has about 70,115 employees.
