Sunflower Farmers Market Announces Second Oklahoma Location

Sunflower Farmers Market, the full-service natural and organic grocer famous for “serious food at silly prices,” has announced it will open its second Oklahoma store in Edmond in 2012.

The new market will be a free-standing store located at 24 E. 2nd St., on the southeast corner of E. 2nd and S. Broadway, and will bring at least 100 jobs to the area.

“Sunflower customers will find affordable, high-quality, healthy groceries for their families, and friendly, helpful service,” said Sunflower Farmers Market CEO Chris Sherrell. “We love being part of the Oklahoma community, and are thrilled to bring a second store to the state.”

Sunflower Farmers Market opened its first Oklahoma store in Oklahoma City in August with, according to a company press release, “overwhelming response from shoppers that has continued to build.”

Like its predecessor, the new 31,000-s.f. Edmond location will offer value-priced all-natural and organic groceries—including vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free options—with the majority of the store dedicated to a vast produce selection. In addition, Sunflower will feature all-natural meats including grass-fed beef and handmade sausages; fresh seafood; bakery items; deli items including more than 200 varieties of cheese; an olive bar; an array of bulk options; an extensive private label line, including fresh-to-go sandwiches, cut fruit, dinner entrées and more; plus natural living health and wellness items, including vitamins, supplements and body and skin care.

Sunflower Farmers Market currently has 35 stores operating in eight states: Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada, Utah, Texas, California and Oklahoma.
