Marion, N.Y.-based Aunt Nellie’s, a category leader for pickled beets, has introduced Baby Whole Pickled Beets, available nationwide in many grocery store chains.
“Baby Whole Pickled Beets is a new product that merges the continued popularity of beets with the small bites trend,” says Bruce Wolcott, VP of Seneca Foods Corp., parent company to Aunt Nellie’s. Seneca Foods has been growing the finest beets since 1929 and is the largest provider of jarred beets.”
Wolcott notes that the pickled baby beets deliver all the nutritional benefits of their full-size counterparts, and they’re a “unique and delicious way to add a nutrient-rich serving of vitamins and antioxidants to the menu,” he says.
Baby whole pickled beets are sized for one bite. Registered dietitian and culinary expert Deanna Segrave-Daly offers the following serving suggestions.
• Serve as a side dish straight from the jar.
• Make easy appetizers, like Baby Beet & Tortellini Skewers.
• Toss into salads without additional chopping or slicing.
• Add to roasted vegetables, soups and other dishes that call for beets.
