Whole Foods Market has announced that “Grow!” will debut online this month as part of the company’s Do Something Reel Film Festival. In addition, this month marks the beginning of a partnership with digital entertainment curator, FilmBuff, which will bring the films featured through the festival to a larger audience through multi-platform distribution.
“Grow!”, written and directed by Christine Anthony and Owen Masterson, is a window into the world of a new generation of sustainable farmers. The film is available to digital audiences beginning today, including iTunes, as well as other digital platforms such as Amazon Instant View, YouTube Rentals, Cinemanow, and Vudu for $3.99 in standard definition and $4.99 in high definition. “Grow!” chronicles the struggles, success and challenges faced by 20 passionate young farmers from Georgia, who, fed up with corporate America and its influence on the food system, aim to solve some of the current system’s inequities by growing “clean and fair” food.
“We believe that these young farmers hold the key to a more sustainable future and that they are the solution to our broken food system,” said filmmaker Christine Anthony. “The Do Something Reel Festival is a great way to get people energized, and we hope that people who see ‘Grow!’ will be inspired to think about the way they shop, cook and eat.”
