FoodMaxx, a Save Mart Supermarkets banner, will unveil its first store in Vallejo, Calif., on Wednesday, with a ribbon cutting scheduled for 8:45 a.m. The new store, formerly a Lucky store that has been remodeled, is located at 1740 Tuolumne and includes new paint, new signage and shelving, easy in-and-out access as well as a choice of self-checkout or manned register.
Refreshments will be served during the grand opening festivities Wednesday and customers can meet new store manager Derick Amado and both Save Mart and FoodMaxx supervision. Vallejo city officials will be in attendance, with some welcoming comments from Mayor Osby Davis.
Also making an appearance will be Save Mart’s motorized shopping cart, Big Red. Built exclusively for Save Mart/Lucky, the cart is nearly 13 feet tall, more than 8 feet wide and 11 feet long. It weighs 3,000 pounds.
Additionally, FoodMaxx will be presenting a $1,000 check to the The Wright Touch, a nonprofit organization that provides warm meals and groceries to local needy families, employment assistance and companionship for elderly persons without family.
