Albert H. Notini & Sons of Lowell, Massachusetts, a wholesale distributor, ceased operations in late August and the business has been sold to Pine State Trading Co. of Gardiner, Maine.

Four generations of the Notini family had operated the business for more than 125 years. In a statement on its website, the Notini company noted, “Like us, Pine State is a family-owned and -operated business, sharing the same focus on customer satisfaction.” Ninety employees are affected by the closure.

Products supplied by Notini & Sons included tobacco, confectionery, pharmaceuticals, drug proprietaries and sundries, wholesale groceries as well as packaged frozen foods.
