Fresh Express has issued a precautionary recall of 350 cases of 12-oz. Fresh Express Baby Spinach with a Product Code of G010A17A and Use-By Date of Jan. 24 due to a possible exposure to a tree nut allergen (almond). Fresh Express representatives already are coordinating with stores to remove the recalled product from retail stores where distributed, primarily in eastern and southeastern states. In a chain-wide effort to help the less fortunate within their local communities, Big Y Foods of Springfield, Massachusetts, has announced that its sixth annual Sack Hunger/Care to Share Program brought 19,316 bags of food to local charities and that its first-ever Toys for Tots drive brought $13,000 worth of toys to needy children. Since its inception, Big Y’s Sack Hunger Program has donated more than 93,000 bags to the area’s needy.
