JSB Industries Adds Dundon As Plant Manager, And More…

JSB Industries-Muffin Town of Chelsea, Massachusetts, has added James Dundon to its staff as a plant engineer. Dundon started out as a maintenance technician with Klosterman Baking Co. in Springfield, Ohio, in 1999 and worked his way up through the ranks to become plant engineer at the Cincinnati plant. In his new role, Dundon will manage all mechanics, construction, utility functions and staff operations at the baking facilities in Chelsea. JSB manufactures fresh frozen bakery products under the Muffin Town, Smart Choice, Aesops Bagels, Madeline’s Gourmet Cookie Dough and SunWise brands. Private label baked goods also are available for foodservice distributors and retailers. The company operates two kosher, peanut-free baked goods manufacturing plants—one at its headquarters in Chelsea and a new facility in Lawrence, Massachusetts…

As part of a class-action settlement, Subway has agreed to take steps to ensure its bread is at least 12 inches long for its “Footlong” sub and will require franchisees to use a tool for measuring bread. The judge said Subway must pay $525,000 in legal fees and $500 each for each of the 10 people who were representatives of the class-action lawsuit…

The National Restaurant Association (NRA) will host a new Foodservice at Retail Conference as part of the NRA Show, which will be held at Chicago’s McCormick Place from May 21-24. The all-day conference, to be held Monday, May 23, will specifically address the challenges retail operators face when adding or expanding foodservice offerings to existing c-store and supermarket operations. Attendees will hear insights from experienced foodservice and retail leaders addressing critical topics such as operational hurdles of foodservice within a retail establishment; building a culinary culture in a retail environment; food handling and safety challenges; recruiting foodservice and culinary professionals to work in a retail establishment; and more. The conference also will include an offsite tour and lunch at Mariano’s.
