The board of directors of the Eastern Frosted & Refrigerated Foods Association (EFRA), the Frozen & Refrigerated Association of the Northeast (FRANE) and the Western New York Frozen & Refrigerated Foods Association (WNYFRFA) will host a joint Northeast Convention & Business Conference this fall.
The event, scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 29, through Sunday, Oct. 2, at The Sagamore in Bolton Landing, New York, will bring together refrigerated and frozen decision-makers from all three associations for three days.
Donna Maglio, FRANE executive director, said discussions for the convention had been in the planning stages for more than a year, with the goal of bringing more value to all three groups’ members.
“I think this is a great way to show the Northeast as a marketplace and bring all the decision-makers to one place in the Northeast,” said Maglio.
The event, with a theme of “Collaborative. Innovative. Strategic. Future.,” has several networking and business opportunities. Kicking off on Friday, Sept. 30, with pre-scheduled one-on-one retailer meetings, the sessions are designed to accommodate those who cannot participate in the national convention and/or those looking to get a jumpstart on pre-planning for the national event.
In the afternoon, the joint memberships will honor this year’s 10 Under 30 Executives. These executives are described as “on the cutting edge of creativity, innovation and consumer insights driving the Northeast sales.”
Saturday’s business session will feature the return of Kevin Coupe from Morning News Beat. The associations also will welcome Julie Henderson, VP of communications for the National Frozen and Refrigerated Foods Association (NFRA).
Other Saturday speakers include Mark Tarzwell, COO of Ateeco, and Russell Zwanka, professor in the Food Marketing Program of the State University of New York, New Paltz (SUNY).
Other convention events include Friday morning’s Fall Golf Tournament, Saturday’s boat cruises, exploration of the area and the Adirondack Mountains.. For more information, contact the associations: efraweb.org; frane.org; wnyfrfa.com.
