Dunkin’ Brands has named David Hoffmann president of Dunkin’ Donuts U.S. and Canada, effective Oct. 3. Hoffmann joins Dunkin’ Brands after 22 years with McDonald’s Corp., where he most recently served as president of the company’s high growth markets, which includes China, South Korea, Russia and several additional European markets. Hoffmann replaces Paul Twohig who, as previously announced, is retiring and will stay with the company through the end of the first quarter 2017. In his new position, Hoffmann will be responsible for Dunkin’ Donuts’ operations and marketing in the U.S. and Canada, as well as global franchising and store development for both Dunkin’ Donuts and Baskin-Robbins…
The Rhode Island Hospitality Association (RIHA) has promoted Nichole Jorel to manager of workforce development. Since 2005, she has held managerial positions at the Boston Copley Marriott, Fairfield Inn and Suites/La Quinta Inn and Suites in Warwick, and the Providence Marriott Downtown. Jorel also worked as an audit supervisor at Providence’s Quantum Services. In her new role, Jorel is responsible for coordinating and executing the annual ProStart Competition for local high school students. She will work with the instructors at local high schools that currently offer the Hospitality and Tourism Management Program and ProStart. She also conducts job readiness skills training to women at the Rhode Island Department of Corrections and is active in working with job seekers from Pathway 2 Employment, Network Rhode Island and SER Jobs for Progress…
The Massachusetts Restaurant Association’s (MRA) education summit on recruiting, training and retainment will be held at The Connors Center in Dover from 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Oct. 17. In other news, the MRA will offer ServSafe classes in Portuguese in Southborough and Spanish classes in Lawrence.
