Shipt is expanding its delivery coverage with Harris Teeter in three North Carolina metros as well as with Costco Wholesale in the Tampa, Florida, area.

On March 23, Shipt will begin to deliver grocery products, beer and wine from Harris Teeter stores to customers in the Winston-Salem, Greensboro and Asheville metros. With this expansion, the online shopping and delivery service will be available to more than 3.7 million households across North Carolina.

“We were so excited to bring grocery delivery to residents in Winston-Salem, Greensboro and Asheville with Shipt’s initial launch back in February,” said Bill Smith, founder and CEO. “Harris Teeter is a beloved North Carolina brand, and we are proud to provide our members with access to a grocer they know and trust, with the added convenience of alcohol delivery.”

Costco Wholesale product delivery in the Tampa metro area got under way March 21. Tampa-area residents can try Shipt for two weeks for free and receive $15 off their first order.

These expansions are part of the “strategic growth initiatives that Shipt has planned for 2017,” the company says. “By forging new alliances with national and regional retailers, launching new metros and expanding service areas in existing markets, Shipt has plans to offer its services to 50 markets and over 30 million households by the end of the year.”

Smith added, “We founded Shipt to simplify the grocery shopping experience, and are pleased to give our dedicated members access to unmatched savings as an extension of their Shipt memberships. As we continue to scale Shipt on a national level, we look forward to offering more options for delivery to our Florida members today, and to Shipt members across the country in the future.”

Through the Shipt app, members shop a store’s product selection, note any preferences, choose a one-hour delivery window and pay for their order. To verify age for alcohol deliveries, members 21 and older will scan their IDs through the app and will be required to present the same identification to the Shipt Shopper upon delivery.

Understanding that alcohol delivery entails more legal and safety concerns than grocery delivery, Shipt will require shoppers to complete additional training on its alcohol delivery policies and procedures to ensure safe and responsible delivery to members. Only certified shoppers will be allowed to complete deliveries that include alcohol.

Deliveries are free of charge on all orders over $35, inclusive of beer, wine and grocery items. Unlimited grocery deliveries are available to members for $99 per year. Shipt has offices in Birmingham, Alabama, and San Francisco, California.
