Brookshire Grocery Co. Expands Digital Commerce Capabilities

Brookshire, BGC

Brookshire Grocery Co. (BGC), a Texas-based food retailer, working with Mercatus—a digital commerce solutions provider—has rolled out online ordering with curbside pickup service to 100 stores in its Brookshire’s, Super 1 Foods and Fresh by Brookshire’s banners.

After initially piloting curbside pickup in late 2017 at its Fresh by Brookshire’s store in Tyler, Texas, the company expanded the service to dozens of Super 1 Foods stores over the summer. Since December 2018, the company has introduced curbside pickup at 60 Brookshire’s Food Stores, including recent launches at seven locations.

As a pioneer in online commerce, BGC selected Mercatus to enable a new level of digital convenience and value that appeals to today’s shoppers. BGC customers can now order, pay and schedule pick-up times at select stores using banner-specific websites and mobile apps. The stores’ personal shoppers fill customers’ orders by selecting the freshest products available and following any special instructions. Personal shoppers then text or call customers with any questions about their selections and to notify them when their order is ready for pickup.

“At BGC, we are focused on creating and delivering exceptional experiences and value for our customers,” said John D’Anna, chief strategy officer, BGC. “This commitment is reflected in the newly enhanced online and in-store shopping experiences we’re proud to offer customers across all of our banners, and we are excited to have introduced curbside in the majority of our locations.”

“Brookshire’s has seen positive results since implementing the Mercatus platform in all of its store banners,” said Sylvain Perrier, president and CEO, Mercatus. “BGC is on the forefront of changing the way people shop. As a valued partner of Brookshire’s, we’re excited to help deliver an exceptional online and in-store experience for BGC customers.”

The Mercatus Integrated Commerce platform is used by leading North American retailers, including Weis Markets, Save Mart brands, Brookshire’s Grocery Company brands, WinCo Foods and others. Its AisleOne personalization engine uses machine learning algorithms to deliver advanced product recommendations and promotions to shoppers on a one-to-one basis, and quickly and easily integrates into retailers’ marketing emails, apps and e-commerce websites. Mercatus is headquartered in Toronto and has been named as one of the Best Workplaces in Canada two years in row by the Great Place to Work Institute.
BGC currently operates more than 180 store locations in three states under the banners of Brookshire’s, Super 1 Foods, Spring Market, and FRESH by Brookshire’s.
